Schizophrenia Awareness Week

Schizophrenia Awareness Week
10-16 March

‘Supporting Families in Mental Illness’

Supporting Families in Mental Illness is the theme of Schizophrenia Awareness Week 2008 – in recognition of the challenges faced by families/ whānau/ ‘āiga with a relative experiencing serious mental illness.

Thousands of New Zealand families face the challenges of living with a family member who has a serious mental illness, often without adequate support.

Schizophrenia Awareness Week highlights the importance of supporting families, and acknowledges the key role that families often play in the recovery process.

SF New Zealand’s 21 branches are hosting a range of Schizophrenia Awareness Week events, open to their local communities and showcasing some of the community services they provide.
